The Heraklion Archaeological Museum is one of the oldest museums in Greece. Its exhibition contains more than 15,000 artefacts that refer to a period of 5,000 years, from neolithic times to the Graeco Roman world.

Experience Knossos Palace which is the largest Bronze Age archaeological site on Crete and probably the ceremonial and political centre of the Minoan civilization and culture. Knossos is the birthplace of Minoan civilization and the origin of the myth of labyrinth. It contains the largest of the Minoan palaces which dated back to 2000 B.C. that has been partially restored.

Excavated in the early 20th century by the great English archaeologist Arthur Evans. The ruins and rebuilt parts belong to the last and largest Minoan Palace, the labyrinth of Knossos. Built 3700 years ago, is over 1000 pieces. This palace was even a health system and was decorated with impressive murals. The throne of King Minos is still intact.

The city of Knossos remained important through the Classical and Roman periods, but its population shifted to the new town of Chandax (modern Heraklion) during the 9th century AD. By the 13th century, it was called Makryteikhos 'Long Wall'; the bishops of Gortyn continued to call themselves Bishops of Knossos until the 19th century. Today, the name is used only for the archaeological site.

The great destination of the day is the idyllic site of Elafonissi, the marvelous “pink” beach and the small lovely islet just off the coast connected with a swallow reef for much joy and relaxation! Elafonisi beach, located at the southwesternmost point of Crete, has been ranked highly by many visitors as being unique and one of the best beaches in Greece!

The colors are intense: the soft sand is made up of millions of tiny crushed shells giving it a slight pink shade along the shore whilst the turquoise seawater completes the setting for perfect hours of sunbathing.

This gentle walk takes approximately 2 hours and you will wind your way through the captivating countryside, passing mountain villages and the impressive White Mountains. At the end of the gorge is the village Komitades, where you will have free time for lunch. Afterwards, we are driving to Fragokastelo, an old Venetian castle, where your guide will tell you about its interesting past before having free time to take a dip in the cool Libyan sea.
