The lighthouse or “Fanari” as locally known, which translates to “Lantern” from Greek, is standing like a sentinel over the Armenistis area and is a testimony to Mykonos’ maritime history. Built in 1891, this 19-meter tower reaches a focal plane of 184 meters. To reach the lighthouse we take the road from Agios Stefanos, which offers the most spectacular views on the island, just 6,5 km from Mykonos town. The mechanism of the first lamp of “Armenistis” is exposed at the Aegean Naval Museum, housed in a 19th-century building in central Mykonos, near Three Wells (Tria Pigadia).
This place gives you a better view of the new port area of Mykonos and the beautiful scenery around it is breath taking. It makes the neighboring island of Tinos to look as if it is right next to you due to its strategic position. Visiting it gives you a good sense of the islands’ fascinating history combined with beauty.

After your pick up from the hotel, we will depart in the morning from the port of Mykonos, to enjoy the tour around the island from a different point of view, full of traditional and authentic images and experiences. Our first stop will be at a very well known site which all the island’s visitors must see, in order to capture a panoramic Mykonos Town photo shooting.
Following the picture taking we will visit the picturesque small port of Agios Ioannis, an area which was named after a small church dedicated to Saint Ioannis and one of great historical significance. The small port in front of us is the starting point of the local fishing boats which are protected here from the island’s strong north winds.
Right afterwards we will depart towards the Mykonos’ airport, where we will have a panoramic view of the airport’s runway and perhaps we are lucky enough to catch a plane taking off or landing. Leaving the airport behind us, we will be headed towards Ano Mera Village and pass through one entirely different scenery, one of the island’s most typical agricultural and stock raising areas, where we will observe small local cultivated fields and even some domestic animals in local family owned farms.
We will head towards the Ano Mera village’s colorful square, where one of the island’s two monasteries is located (“Panagia Tourliani”) and we will be guided through its chambers. In Ano Mera square you will also enjoy a small stand well-stocked with a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables.
After capturing all these images of Mykonian countryside and its lifestyle, we will reach the Mykonian Farm, where we will be guided by our assistant and always under the directions of the farm’s superintendent. Whoever wishes may also use the farm’s tools and get involved with the farming work and tasks in co-operation with the superintendent. Take this opportunity to get closer to the domestic animals and the farm’s traditional organic cultivation. There is a Light Snack option for anyone who is interested to taste the local products from the traditional farm.
As we continue our tour, we will be passing by some of the most distant beaches of Mykonos, named “Kalo Livadi”, “Kalafati” and also see “Agia Anna”.

At 9:15am, the hiking adventure begins. The start takes us to achieve “1”, a track 1.450 meters to get to the Farm “Maou” at 10am. Our trip continues by crossing the narrow streets of Maou, between cultured estates and traditional homes. At this point we will observe amateur local fishermen at the edges of the lake dam, an integral part of the wonderful pictures, along with various animals graze unconcerned around us. At 10:30am, we should arrive at the panoramic point “2”, the Dam, where we will have already traveled 4.150 meters. Here you will be getting additional information and after a short rest, we will continue to achieve the goal “3”, at 950 meters, and a total of 5.100 meters from start, on the beach of Mersini, where option 4-hour: at point “3” the itinerary of adventure ends, and you can enjoy swimming at the sea, until you come around 12:30pm to be driven back to your place of stay or the “Mykonian Farm”.
If you choose option 6-hour: We will continue with the hike to embark on the challenging path, after a short break of 15 minutes, of swimming at Mersini beach, which will lead us to “The Wind”, the target point “4”, 6.100 meters from the start. From this the islands of Ikaria, Samos and Tinos are in a clear view as we ascend and on our left are the large holes in the hillside, created from the old granite mines. At approximately 1pm we’ll be at the highest point of the hike (The Wind). After the impressive cool refreshing breeze at this point, the next step “5” is the estate with bougainvilleas 7.300 meters away from the starting point, passing the farm with the horses, and the small and picturesque blue chapel we will get to that point. After half an hour of resting we gear up again to the “Finish” point our ultimate goal “6” and having traveled 9.800 meters, the “shipyards of Elm” where amateur fishermen are guarding their small boats of this area and the adjacent beach a redemptive bath, where we successfully end our adventure. The car will pick us up at around 2pm, bound for where we started.
