Le Domaine de Bois Chéri, located on the highlands in the southern part of the island of Mauritius, at nearly 500 metres above sea level, offers ideal climatic conditions for the cultivation of tea. Follow the footsteps of the tea pickers across the fields of the most ancient tea plantation in Mauritius and experience the traditional ways of tea picking. Come and discover the different steps of the tea making process. The tea tasting will be at Le Chalet du Domaine de Bois Chéri, overlooking Le Lac des Cygnes du Domaine de Bois Chéri with a panoramic view on the southeast coast of our island.

Upon arrival at the plantation, a Mauritian breakfast will be served and the group will start tea picking for approximately 20 minutes. Once the tea picking is done, we will go to L’Usine de Thé de Bois Chéri where all the baskets will be weighed and the tea leaves verified. You will then discover the various steps involved in the making of the tea from the raw material to the finished good. Strong with this knowledge, you will then taste the various teas of Bois Chéri, in a magnificent environment overlooking Le Lac des Cygnes du Domaine de Bois Chéri. Lunch will then be served at Le Bois Chéri Restaurant.

Afterwards, we will visit the factory and distillery of Saint Aubin and relish their famous rum, which they have been producing since 1819. Taste the Mauritian dish at the restaurant of St Aubin for your lunch. You will also discover the vanilla plantation of the estate and the interesting transformation process of the vanilla orchid from the flower to the aromatic pod.
