Speedboat through the Mangroves + Snorkeling in the Reef

 

This is a great adventure for anyone staying around Cancun. Drive your own speedboat across the Nichpute lagoon through dense mangroves as you head for the Mayan Coral Reef at Punta Nizac where you'll stop for some of the best snorkelling in the world. Here you'll swim in pristine turquoise waters among teeming shoals of tropical fish and amazingly colourful colourful coral formations.

You're guaranteed adventure on this jungle tour. Think James Bond and Jacques Cousteau. You'll drive your own speedboat across the Nichupte lagoon through mangroves heading for the open sea and one of the biggest coral reefs in the world where you can swim through a beautiful coral reef while seeing multitudes of different sizes and colours of exotic tropical fish. We start at Cancun where after a safety briefing you'll board your own wave-runner or a two-man speedboat. From there it's time to head out from the marina into the Nichupte Lagoon. We'll speed across the lagoon through dense mangroves heading for Punta Nizuc. This protected nature reserve is the home of the Nizuc Coral Reef, the second largest coral reef in the world and runs parallel to the Eastern coast of the Yucatan peninsula.

We'll stop here for 45 minutes. You shouldn't miss the opportunity to go snorkelling in pristine turquoise waters amidst the living coral and teeming shoals of colourful tropical fish. You'll see barracudas, turtles, eels, rays and occasionally a nurse shark or two. Or if you wish you can just stay on the boat and relax in the sun.

This tour takes about two-and-a-quarter hours. All diving equipment is included. Remember to bring biodegradable sunscreen, swimsuit and towel, a change of clothes and footwear as well as some extra cash. This excursion is not suitable for the less mobile, for people with heart problems or for children under the age of two.
