Start of at 355 meters above sea level at the iconic Pico Dos Barcelos. Look out over impressive views of Funchal bay and the city. Continue up the winding mountain road until we reach Eira do Serrado, located in the heart of the island and offers panoramic views of the valley. Spot the parish of Curral das Freiras and notice how the imposing mountains surround it.

Next we’ll travel to the fairytale like hamlet of Monte, situated above Funchal, famous for its beautiful church, lush public gardens and Toboggan run. Those who seek an adrenaline rush may hop on board its 2km run and enjoy the breeze that rushes past them on this unique form of transport.

To end this delightful day out, we will visit a local embroidery producer. Be fascinated at the skilled work and there’s even time for a little bit of wine tasting!

All year round, this is a superb walk, with a sun blessed aspect, through landscape rich in cultivation. This walk starts just after Cabo Girão, passing through the valley of Quinta Grande and Campanario.
The houses are festooned with dahlias and the aroma of wood fires is in the air. Along this Levada, you will see beautiful landscapes like as cultivation terraces, lovely houses, and charming gardens.

Visit the quaint fishing village of Camara de Lobos and the pretty Ribeira Brava and travel through the lush valley region to the Encumeada mountain pass which takes you 1007m above sea level. As we drive along, panoramic views over the north and south coast unfold before you; transporting you to the heart of tropical Madeira.

We descend from high ground to the rugged north coast towards Porto Moniz, famed for its volcanic rock swimming pools, passing through São Vicente and Seixal with a stop for lunch (not included). From here it’s time to climb the mountains to Paúl da Serra and descend back down to the south west coast to Calheta and Ponta do Sol. The tour ends on a high note at the towering cliffs of Cabo Girão - the second highest in the world!

Sail away on this delightful all-day cruise to discover some genuine desert islands and the rare animals that are their only residents. The Desertas Islands (literally 'Desert Islands') are a group of three uninhabited islands about 15 miles south-east of Madeira and this excursion is the ideal way to explore their unspoilt charms.

Setting off at 10 am the boat sails slowly along the coast, affording ample opportunity to take in the marvellous scenery of the multi-coloured rocks as well as dramatic sea cliffs and caves. Weighing anchor at Doca, the vessel pauses to allow for swimming, diving or simply relaxing in this delightful bay of crystalline blue water. After a hot meal, prepared and served on board, it's time to go ashore for a guided tour. All three islands in the group have been declared a protected nature reserve, not least because they provide a home to the extremely rare Mediterranean monk seal, one of the most endangered mammals in the world, with fewer than 600 remaining individuals thought to exist in the wild.
