Overview
The chameleon-like Casa Batlló is one of the best examples of visionary architect Antoni Gaudi’s genius. A visit to this emblematic house invites you to discover a space that is no mere home but a masterpiece. A whole world of
surprises and refined architectural details
is waiting for you behind the striking Modernist façade. Beat the queues and experience the full splendour of this living museum at your own pace with an audio guide and map. So put on your headphones and learn all about this fascinating building.
The house has been departmentalised into five distinct areas and your audio guide will suggest a route to follow through each one, pointing out the highlights and details as you move along. Visit the Noble Floor with its great views over the upscale Passeig de Gracia. Explore the vast loft, once the Batlló family's laundry and storeroom, and then step out on to the roof terrace, built to resemble a dragon's back, and which has colourful mosaic chimney stacks.
Descend the communal stairwell, admiring the stained-glass windows and the meticulously designed bannisters, skylights and other details as you go. Then, in the entrance hall, marvel at the great wooden staircase. At times you'll feel like you're in an underground grotto or inside the entrails of a mythical beast, such was the
visionary power of Gaudi's imagination
. Once the tour finishes, you are free to stay on as long as you like, admiring this spellbinding house at your leisure.
