Overview
Come and take in one of the most gripping shows ever to hit the stage as you feel the power of The Woman in Black at London’s Fortune Theatre.
Now celebrating 25 years in the West End, The Woman in Black has enthralled over seven million people since its original debut with its fast paced, spine-chilling storytelling and its unique blend of suspense, drama and bold stagecraft.
Based on the novel by Susan Hill, The Woman in Black tells the chilling story of Arthur Kipps, a junior lawyer who is summoned to Eel Marsh House to attend the funeral of Mrs Alice Drablow, the house’s sole inhabitant. Unaware of the tragic secrets which lie hidden behind the shuttered windows, he begins to feel a sense of unease when he catches glimpse of a young woman dressed in all black at the funeral.
Years later, as an old man, Arthur recounts his experiences to an actor in a desperate attempt to exorcise the ghosts of the past. The play unfolds around the conversations of these two characters as they act out the solicitor’s experiences on Eel Marsh all those years ago. What transpires is a stunning display of acting, direction and suspense at its finest and is sure to be a highlight of your stay in London.
