Overview
Ever wanted to spontaneously book a tour on the same day you take it? This short walking tour will have you visiting two culturally significant locations within the heart of Ho Chi Minh City in just two hours! This is perfect if you only have a couple of hours to spare. You can also choose from multiple start times for a time that suits you.
The Ben Thanh Market is the second-largest indoor wet market in Ho Chi Minh and is also one of the oldest surviving markets. It is an iconic destination as well as a cultural symbol in the city. It originated in the early 17th century when street vendors would gather by the Saigon River to sell their wares. The market was moved to its current location in 1912 and renovated in 1985. Its name Ben (derived from the word harbor) and Thanh (derived from the word citadel) has nearly 1,500 stalls where you can find anything you could need.
“The nicest market in Saigon. Lots of stalls and clean! Vendors are helpful and polite. We bought some spices and fresh meat and seafood.” – Atca, China
The Museum of History in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam showcases the country's historical and cultural heritage through its impressive collection of artifacts and exhibits. The museum is located in a grand building that was once the National Museum of Vietnam and features displays on Vietnam's prehistoric times, the Dong Son culture, and the country's fight for independence from colonial rule. Understand the country’s rich past and stock up on history and knowledge as you wander around the exhibits.
"Superb. I didn't expect very much and could not have been more pleasantly surprised… A wonderful range of exhibits on Vietnamese history and culture that is very much focused on quality rather than quantity. I spent about an hour here, which is probably the best I spent in Saigon. Highly recommended..” – Mark, UK
