The Amsterdam Dungeon

Hey, you there! Do you have nerves of steel and a great sense of humour?
Then you've come to the right place! In The Amsterdam Dungeon you’ll come face to face with over 500 years of Amsterdam’s darkest history.
10 scarily good actors bring shockingly scary true stories back to life (as well as the odd corpse).

On 360 degree sets you’ll experience 12 shows, along with your fellow heretics. You see, hear and smell history brought to life (yes, you can really smell it…. and you can't blame the dog for this one). Down in The Dungeons you can trust no-one and you become part of the story. So, get ready to scream as you're burnt at the stake, to chuckle at the melancholic (but clearly crazy) judge, and to tremble with fear as you stand face-to-face with the executioner. This unique, interactive theatrical experience will stay with you for the rest of your life (which might not be as long as you think if you come down with the plague!).

Oh… don't forget…. NEW at The Amsterdam Dungeon: The Gallows Fields…
You won't want to hang around here for too long! Before you know it, you'll be the prisoner and the common people will decide your fate. But then they'll have to rope in some help (rope, gallows, do you get it!?)

A visit to this unholy place isn't for the weak-hearted! Because of this, The Amsterdam Dungeon is not recommended for children under the age of 10, and guests younger than 13 must be accompanied by an adult.

Know before you go
• A new tour starts every 10 minutes. It depends on the first in the row whether the next show will be in English or in Dutch. The tours last approximately 80 minutes no matter what time you enter.
• The Amsterdam Dungeon is open 365 days a year, we open at 11am and close at 6pm (last tour). On Fridays and Saturdays the last show starts at 7pm. Because of holidays the opening hours can vary, please check the website for the special opening hours.
• The attraction can be visited in a wheelchair, but because of limited spots please make sure that you contact The Amsterdam Dungeon before your visit.

Amsterdam Icebar

Come on in and join us for a good time. The Amsterdam Icebar is a fascinating creation. Inside an unassuming brownstone, make your way in to a decadent lounge; a fine place to relax, sip a cocktail or grab a bite to eat, and enjoy good conversation with a group of friends. Enjoy great music and company before heading to the back of the lounge where you'll find the impressive entrance to the Icebar.

Don your parkas and snow hats and prepare for an experience that is guaranteed to be cool. Created from a staggering 35 tons of natural ice, this bar is a true work of art. At first glance, it seems that everything is made of ice, and it pretty much is. The bar, the seats, even the glasses that you drink from are all sculpted ice. The shimmering blue and green lights, cast a glow across the ice and make for a visually enticing atmosphere. Check out a 4D movie clip as you take in your frigid surroundings. Grab a chilly seat and enjoy either a Smirnoff cocktail or an Extra Cold Heineken beer in a glass made of ice.

A masterpiece of the coldest kind, admire the craftsmanship before raising your glass and toasting to a perfect time out. The Amsterdam Icebar is an unforgettable way to spend an hour and tip back a few cold ones.

Amsterdam Boat Tour

Sail the canals of Amsterdam! Amsterdam is often called the Venice of the north. Well, is there a better way to know it than by sailing its canals? A perfect way to rest your legs before continuing to discover the city on foot.

Amsterdam’s canals have been the city’s economic and cultural engine since its construction in the 17th century. In 2010 UNESCO recognized its value, declaring the Amsterdam Canal Belt a World Heritage Site, a unique urban planning project that constitutes a piece of art in itself. Furthermore, the canals symbolize the city’s economic, political, and cultural development during the Dutch Golden Age, when Amsterdam was the center of world trade. Sailing through the Canal District is such a wonderful thing that it becomes an unforgettable experience. We didn’t make it up, we swear it! So much so that the District is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Beyond the canal belt, the Dutch capital reinvents itself around the IJ bay and Amstel River area, with the IJ river, what we would call the hipster area of Amsterdam.

A boat trip through the canals of Amsterdam allows you to see the city from a totally different perspective. With this boat trip, you can appreciate the most emblematic places of the city, while you listen to an audioguide in your language.

Smooth sailing! You know what? This tour is so special that sometimes it is impossible to repeat it. Why? Because the canals are unique and sometimes the course must change. Come on a full-fledged adventure!

Body Worlds - The Happiness Project with Skip the Line

This fascinating new exhibition by Gunther von Hagens, featuring more than 200 anatomical specimens of real human bodies, shows us the complexity, resilience and vulnerability of the human body. Worldwide, the Body Worlds exhibitions of the human form have drawn more than 40 million visitors.

The Happiness Project is one in the world-famous series of exhibitions by Body Worlds, showing real, plastinated human bodies. Plastination, invented in 1977 by German anatomist Dr Gunther von Hagens, is a method in which the fluid contained in bodily tissues is replaced by reactive polymers (such as silicone rubber) using a special vacuum process. Plastination completely stops the decay and dehydration of human tissue. This patented method makes it possible to view the inside of the human body in a revolutionary new way.

Anyone with an interest in science, medicine, anatomy or psychology will find The Happiness Project an intriguing and enlightening way to spend the day. With in-depth and detailed examinations of the human form, the project attempts to shed light on that most elusive of human emotions, happiness, and is guaranteed to captivate visitors.
