Barcelona Private Walking Tour
The capital of Catalunya is also one of the capitals of many important arts in Spain. Starting with football, with mighty FC Barcelona, until the pictorial arts with names as Picasso, Dali and Gaudí, Barcelona combines modern and historic architecture in a unique way. Founded by the Romans, it became the capital of the county of Barcelona by the Middle Ages and then by merging with the Kingdom of Aragon, the capital of the Principality of Catalonia.

The monumental medieval architecture will take you to the middle ages, like in Plaça del Rei, with the viceroy’s palace and the beautiful Palau Reial, where the Spanish Catholic kings received Christopher Columbus when he returned from his first journey to the New World.
See the outside of the cathedral of Barcelona and the Santa Maria del Mar church, the best examples of Catalan gothic style. Discover the jewish neighbourhood of El Call, and discover the contrasts that have marked Catalan and Spanish history. Walk through the Las Ramblas avenue, known for its street artists, little coffees and traditional Catalonian restaurants. The Gothic Quarter – also known as Barri Gòtic, is the area that stretches from La Rambla to Via Laietana, and from the Mediterranean seafront to Ronda de Sant Pere and is the centre of the old city of Barcelona.
It is known as the Gothic Quarter, as it used to be the location of a Roman village and some of the remnants still remain. Currently, the Gothic Quarter is one of the most exciting parts of the city as it’s home to some of Barcelona’s most famous landmarks, excellent restaurants, amazing restaurants and many squares (plaças) to relax and unwind.
Your tour will end with entrance tickets to the Barcelona Cathedral which you will be free to explore at your own pace.
The Cathedral of the Holy Cross and Saint Eulalia is a gorgeous Gothic cathedral in the old center of the bustling Catalan city; it is also the seat of the Archbishop of Spain.
The construction of the Cathedral began at the end of the 13th century during the reign of King James II of Aragon and took around 150 years to complete. While the structure and internal decoration of the Cathedral were completed by the 15th century, its neo-Gothic façade was added at the end of the 19th century, covering the rather plain original exterior; the roof (which your tickets give you access to) was also adorned with an impressive range of gargoyles.
Enjoy this masterpiece as the capstone to your highlights tour.

• Admire the famous 'Black Madonna', an icon in the monastery basilica
• Explore the 'Holy Cave' where the Virgin is said to have once appeared
• Enjoy astonishing views of the natural park
• Great way to explore the region near Barcelona
Take a break from sightseeing in the city, and join us on this exciting adventure to one of the most mysterious and magical places in Catalonia.
Enjoy this tour with your passionate guide, who will give you expert local insights into our most deeply rooted cultural traditions. We will pick you up at your accommodation and take comfortable transportation to the mountain of Montserrat.
This magnificent 4,000-foot wonder is easily recognizable from afar by its “serrated” top from which it gets its name. And 2,380 feet above sea level, the Benedictine monastery of Santa Maria de Montserrat enjoys a stunning location, surrounded by an unforgettable natural landscape.
The monastery has served as a center for spiritual retreat for almost one thousand years. We will first visit the basilica, where the Virgin Santa Maria of Montserrat, Patron Saint of Catalonia, is located. The Romanesque statue of “the Black Madonna” originates from the XII century and is today surrounded by a golden altar. According to legend, the Virgin personally appeared in the IX century, giving rise to the hermitage of Santa Maria.
Next, take a walking tour of the monastery surroundings. Enjoy the unparalleled views offered by this region, which was declared as a Natural Park in 1987. We will also discover the Holy Cave where the virgin is said to have appeared with your professional local guide. The site has, since then, become an authentic center for pilgrimage and prayer.

Montserrat Hiking Tour
Meet your private guide and together take the train to Montserrat. Montserrat is a rocky mountain located 50 km to the southwest of Barcelona. It is considered the most significant and important mountain of Catalonia. The etymology of Montserrat comes from Catalan Mont (mountain) and serrat (serrated). The mountain receives its name for its peculiar morphology. In 1987 Montserrat was declared a Natural Park to ensure its conservation.
The importance of this mountain is due to the legend of the miraculous appearance of the Madonna and Child in one of the caves. This cave received the name Santa Cova (The Saint Cave). To this day the wood carving of the Madonna and Child are kept in the Church of the monastery and it is possible to visit it. This image of the Madonna is popularly known as La Moreneta (The Black Madonna) for its dark color. The color is the result of a reaction caused by varnish. Due to the legend of the Madonna, the mountain has been linked with spirituality. Besides the main monastery of Santa María de Montserrat, there is a great number of small churches and chapels, some of them abandoned.
When we arrive in Montserrat, we will take the cogwheel train up to the monastery, so you can enjoy the great views of the mountain. Once in the monastery, we will take you on a 30 minutes guided tour so you can visit the basilica and la “Moreneta”. Meet your mountain expert guide and start walking one of the most important paths in Montserrat that will lead you to the small chapel called Santa Cova. This is the place where the Black Madonna was found. The way is easy to follow and has spectacular views. At the end of the tour you will be given some free time to enjoy the place at your own peace.

The village of Santa Pau was declared of historic and artistic interest in 1971.
The main produce of this town are the Santa Pau beans grown in the volcanic soil near this town for many years only for self-consumption and today they are very appreciated by the fineness of there flavor.
To finish we will go to the Lake of Banyoles that represents the largest mass of continental waters in Catalonia, with a great landscape value and a sign of the Catalan collective identity. We will start our tour in Calella de Palafrugell where it seems that time stands still, on the beach of Port Bo we still find the boats going to daily fishing. As if they waited for the storm to calm to go to the sea...Low and whitewashed cottages have been renovated but retain all the charm of yesteryear. The coastline in this area has been saved from the building frenzy has affected our coast lately. We also find the Indiano Colonial-style houses, build for the people who emigrate to America and return after making a fortune, most to Cuba. Some returned home with the longing of those lands and a sweet and sad music, the Havaneres. The singing of Havaneres of Calella, on a stage on the sea is celebrated in July on the beach of Port Bo, surrounded by boats packed with people they sing their melancholic songs.
A 15 minutes easy walk following a path by the sea (Camino de Ronda) will get you to Llafranc, a small Cove of golden sand with a small promenade, terraces and restaurants that give to it. And the sourranding hills it raises the lighthouse of Sant Sebastià with magnificent views over the coast.
From Llafranc we go to Begur, also a fishing village, with a castle at the top overlooking the coast and the plain of the Baix Empordà. Narrow streets and small squares. It also shares a past with Calella and Llafranc with a good number of houses of the Indianos. little gems that stand out over the simplicity of other buildings.
We will have lunch in Pals, where we can taste the delicious rice that is grown in this area. After lunch we will visit the Gothic quarter known as "Pedró", the Church of Sant Pere, the Tower of the hours... and to visit Peratallada, certainly a marvel of medieval civil architecture. We'll see how this small town retains its feudal inheritance intact, narrow, winding streets and stone buildings. We will see the wall, the moat, the Castle-Palace, the square with porches, all the old quarter.
