Stories From The Dark Side - Criminals/Gangs/Mafia

Take to the streets of New York with the men and women who know them best. For 2.5 hours you’ll walk the beat with an expert guided (many of whom are retired NYPD officers or detectives) who will take you back through the criminal past of NYC - learning the shocking truth behind NY's organized crime rings, white collar swindlers and modern scandals.

Developed with the help of NYPD officers, this exciting tour delves into the darker side of New York history, to show you shocking truth behind the city’s organized crime rings, white collar swindlers and modern scandals. With one of our expert guides (who occasionally include retired NYPD officers and detectives) you’ll visit traditional hotbeds of New York crime like Chinatown, the Lower East Side, and a let’s not forget; Wall Street. In these classic neighbourhoods you’ll learn how the city shaped and was shaped by its criminal underbelly. This is the perfect experience for anyone with an interest in true crime, storytelling or the turbulent history of America’s greatest city.

Take to the streets of New York with a local expert guide to explore neighbourhoods once home to notorious criminals, learn how the city was ruled in waves by various immigrant crime rings and finding out what modern crime looks like in the city.

On the Lower East Side, you’ll see tenement buildings where Irish immigrants lived in subhuman conditions. The most notorious area here was the ‘Five Points’ - a junction so infamous for its gang crime (rumour has it some even lived in burrows under the streets!) that Charles Dickens came to check it out himself on a trip to NYC, not believing it could live up to its reputation. It did, of course, as your guide will tell you.

Irish gangs weren’t the only group to terrorise the Lower East Side however. Throughout the 1900s the Italian mafia kept Little Italy in a choke hold, while the 1970s and 1980s were dominated by Chinese turf wars that were so bloody you’ll hardly believe the stories.

From the city’s earliest rag-tag gangs to the mafia empires of the 20th century, you’ll separate the truth from myths popularized by movies like Gangs of New York and TV shows like The Sopranos. You’ll also learn about the city’s most notorious criminals; from Captain Kidd and Boss Tweed, to John Gotti and Leona Helmsley.

The neighbourhoods you visit are much nicer today than they were in the past but has NYC really cleaned up its act? As part of your tour, you’ll visit lower Manhattan, in particular Wall Street and the Financial District, to learn about modern, white collar crime (and the going rate for a get-out-of-jail-free card).

New York City crime tours don’t get any better than when they are developed with the help of NYPD police officers and detectives. Lifetimes of studying NYC’s criminals are synthesized into a truly unique experience that will teach you how crime is inseparable from the history of this great city.

Site Visited include Wall Street, Lower East Side Tenement Buildings, Five Points, Chinatown and Little Italy.

Jersey Boys

Jersey Boys: The Tony, Grammy and Olivier Award winning smash hit musical!

Jersey Boys is the behind-the-music story of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons. They were just four guys from Jersey, until they sang their very first note. They had a sound nobody had ever heard… and the radio just couldn’t get enough of. But while their harmonies were perfect on stage, off stage it was a very different story -- a story that has made them an international sensation all over again.

Go behind the music and inside the story of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons in the Tony Award®-winning true-life musical phenomenon, Jersey Boys. From the streets of New Jersey to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, this is the musical that’s just too good to be true.

FEATURING THE LEGENDARY TOP TEN HITS:

“Sherry” • “Big Girls Don’t Cry” • “Walk Like A Man” • “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You” • “December, 1963 (Oh What A Night)”

Jersey Boys is directed by Des McAnuff, with book by Marshall Brickman & Rick Elice, music by Bob Gaudio and lyrics by Bob Crewe.

“Too good to be true! It’s terrific! The cast is plain wonderful. The book is as tight and absorbing as an Arthur Miller play. Jersey Boys is a show dynamically alive in music while, as a drama, it catches the very texture, almost the actual smell, of its time.”- Clive Barnes, New York Post

“The crowd goes wild. I’m talking about the real crowd at the August Wilson Theatre, who seem to have forgotten what year it is or how old they are. And everything that had led up to that curtain call feels as real and vivid as the sting of your hands clapping together.” - Ben Brantley, The New York Times

“Oh, what a fantastic night you’ll have! A phenomenal hit, with more show-stopping hit songs than any new show on Broadway. It’s impossible not to love Jersey Boys and this amazing cast. A spectacular, behind-the-scenes tell-all pop musical.” –Pat Collins, UPN 9 TV

NYC Brewery Tour

Get the 411 on all there is to know about craft beer and how it’s made as you set out on a pub crawl that you won’t forget in a jiffy!

Highlights
- Have the chance to sample a bunch of different styles of craft beers
- Listen up and get the lowdown on the beer industry in NYC and in the USA
- Learn how to taste beer and find your favorite
- Meet the local beer community and their dogs

Come along and join the craft beer crowd as we stroll from one terrific neighborhood taproom to another in none other than the Big Apple. This city loves its beer and loves its dogs and whenever the opportunity presents itself, we like to bring them together. This tour puts the average pub crawl to shame by visiting three of the city's best dog-friendly breweries. You’ll sip on the freshest beers in town straight from the source as the neighborhood's dogs get to know each other. You'll also get up to speed with all you could hope to know about the craft beer industry in not only NYC but the whole of America.

Craft beer has recently made a comeback in America and we, for one, are all for it! There are now more than 5,500 breweries across the country (and over 40 in New York City), which has led to tasting and appreciating craft beer becoming something akin to a pro sport. Needless to say, many of the so called premiership players make neighborhood taprooms their stomping grounds. Join us on this NYC brewery tour to explore the wonderful world of craft beer as we visit several dog-friendly Long Island City (Queens) breweries, getting your teeth into their delectable products. This beer tour is a one-stop-shop for all things to do with craft beer! And since the newest breweries are a social gathering spot for the local community, it is not unusual to see families with kids and lots of lovable puppies hanging with their owners. If your dog is visiting with you, bring them along for this fun "pup crawl"

Getting a bit boozy is without a doubt amusing but if you can drink in some fun facts whilst getting your kicks, you kill two birds with one stone! It’s safe to say you can tuck in to the culture from behind the scenes all the while toasting a bevvy. We suss out what kind of ingredients go into making a killer pint, what to keep an eye on when it comes to different varieties of beer and how to taste a craft beer like the pros do! You’ll be more than in the knowhow once you’ve knocked back a brew or two and you’ll come away from this tour with all the pro knowledge you need to turn yourself and your friends into craft beer aficionados.

Dogs are more than welcome (one per person), but not required to enjoy this tour. You should be prepared to be around dogs throughout the tour. Beer tasting is included at one brewery. Proceeds from the tour go to a local dog rescue.
