Park Güell and Sagrada Familia

There is no other park in the world like Park Güell in Barcelona. Contemplate this architectural wonder created by Antoni Gaudí as we walk through it accompanied by an expert guide. Explore its points of interest while listening to all kinds of stories around the history of the park and its famous creator. Admire the multicolored staircase dragon, with its colorful mosaic pottery known as "trencadís"; and look at the large central terrace, surrounded by a series of benches that form a great sea serpent. Going down to the lower part of the terrace you will find the vaulted courtyard, with 86 Doric columns in the shape of enormous tree trunks. As you walk along this path you can see how Gaudí masterfully integrated architecture into nature. He even built birds’ nests in these corridors and on the walls of the terrace.

Continue the tour to another of the great wonders of Gaudí, the Sagrada Familia, and marvel at this exceptional modernist building that has already become a symbol of the city. Contemplate its glorious facade, which has provoked all kinds of opinions since the architect began his project. Once inside, you can see impossible shapes and textures that offer a space of illusion and fantasy in which you will be absorbed.

Sagrada Familia Skip The Line Guided Tour with Park Güell

Discover two of Antonio Gaudi's most famous works: the Sagrada Familia and Park Güell. Forget about the queues as you take advantage of priority access and make the most of Barcelona's iconic symbols.

Highlights
- Take a stroll around Park Güell
- Fall in love with the beauty of the Sagrada Familia
- Be captivated by the intricate details of two of Gaudi's most famous works

Park Güell - Much more than a simple park... you will not find any park like this one in the world!

Antoni Gaudi was commissioned to build this architectural wonder by Count Güell, who wanted him to plan an elegant residential area. Today it is a public park and it belongs to the city heritage. It has been declared UNESCO’s World heritage site and is just another wonder that awaits you on your visit to Barcelona.

Enter Park Güell and descend the big staircase dominated by the dragon, decorated with a mosaic of ceramic tiles, the Catalan style known as “trencadís”. This dragon is one of the most characteristic images of Barcelona. Originally written Park Güell (using the English spelling), the park is arranged around a large central square bordered by a snaky bench covered by the “trencadís” mosaic style. Below the square, the roof is supported by 86 Doric columns shaped like trees, with paths between them, and viaducts on sloping columns: Gaudí's work unites nature and architecture like no other does.

In Park Güell there is also a small house where Gaudí lived during a period of his life. The house has been converted into a museum and contains interesting furniture also designed by Gaudí. (Not included).

Sagrada Familia - Antoni Gaudi's most famous and most recognisable works.

The Sagrada Familia is one of the most visited buildings in the world. Visit the astonishing interior of this Basilica, where vaults reach seventy metres. Antoni Gaudí designed a Latin cross plan with five aisles, extremely rich in ornamentation and symbolism. We will also visit the Sagrada Familia museum, where you will see an exhibition of drawings, plaster models and pictures about the history and development of this basilica from its early beginnings to the present day. The museum will also give valuable information about Antoni Gaudi´s life and career.

The famous architect, one of the greatest innovators of his time worked and lived in Barcelona. He left behind numerous treasures for the discerning tourist to discover around the city.

Highlights
- Appreciate the grandeur of Gaudi´s biggest masterpiece: The Sagrada Familia
- Admire Gaudi’s unique and distinctive architectural styles
- Explore the colourful Park Güell

Marvel at the magnificent interior of the Sagrada Familia, where vaults are 70 metres high. The breath and scale of the colours and intricacies of the designs are simply awe-inspiring. At the Sagrada Familia Museum, see drawings, plaster models and pictures about the temple’s history and development. Then head outside for a detailed description of the exterior, learning all about the symbolism of each of the three façades: The Nativity, the Passion and the Glory.

Continue the tour at Güelll, the suburban ‘garden city’ where architecture integrates seamlessly with nature. Wander through the Doric colonnade, see the famous mosaic lizard staircase and admire the cityscape from the serpentine benches and also Gaudi’s former home. Return to the city centre to the Passeig de Gracia, where you can admire the fascinating façades of two of Gaudi's most groundbreaking apartment buildings: Casa Milà, which locals affectionately call La Pedrera, ‘the quarry’, and the Casa Batlló, where the tour ends. During the fifteenth century, the dukes of Cardona were the most important family of the Crown of Aragon, only after the Royal Family. The members of this ducal house were known as "crownless kings," because they had extensive territorial dominions in Catalonia, Aragon and Valencia, and dynastic ties with the royal houses of Castile, Portugal, Sicily, and Naples. In 1714, after a siege that largely destroyed the walls of the castle, Cardona was the last stronghold to surrender to the Bourbon troops of Philip V during the War of Succession. His citadel could not be taken, later. By Napoleon's troops.
