Alexander Hamilton Financial District

Discover the meteoric rise of New York City with this informative walking tour of the financial district. We’ll see the city through the eyes of penniless young immigrant, Alexander Hamilton. From humble beginnings as one of many boys looking for a golden opportunity, he rose to become the first Secretary of the Treasury, epitomising the enterprising spirit that defines a nation.

Trace the history of NYC from its founding as a small Dutch settlement to its current role as financial world capital. Visit New York’s oldest park, Bowling Green, where Peter Minuit first bought Manhattan Island from the native people in 1626. Then stop in Battery Park where ranks of artillery once stood to protect the vulnerable infant city from marauders. Visit Fraunces Tavern, the oldest building in Manhattan and a key location during the American Revolution. It was here that the final settlements of the American Revolution were hashed out in the British-American Board of Inquiry meetings.

Hear stories of lavish wealth and tragic downfalls while you wander down Wall Street. We’ll pass the New York Stock Exchange where fortunes are made and lost every day, and remember the Wall Street Crash of 1929 which caused the global downturn of the Great Depression. Finally, visit Ground Zero, site of the tragic September 11th terrorist attacks in which nearly 3,000 people died. Take some time to reflect on the bombing that rocked the world, and discover how the indomitable New York spirit has risen from the ashes of disaster to forge a new future.

East Village TV & Movie Site Walking Tour

The tour begins in Nolita, which means North of Little Italy. You’ll get to take a picture with the Puck building, Grace’s office from the acclaimed series Will & Grace, as well as movies like When Harry Met Sally and American Psycho. Right around the corner is the subway stop that Riley and her family use in Girl Meets World.

Next, you’ll head to the coffee shop where we meet Jennifer Hudson’s character in the first Sex and the City movie. Believe it or not, it’s the very same place where Peter Parker and Mary Jane Watson reconnect in Spider-Man 2.

East Village
As you approach the heart of the East Village, stores will become trendier and the streets a little more narrow and quiet. In Cooper Square, you’ll see where Mick is able to stop a thief in Crocodile Dundee and the location of the start of a car chase scene from crime drama Person of Interest.

St. Mark’s Place
One of the most famous streets in the East Village, this is where you’ll see the comic shop from Friends, the tattoo parlor from Nerve starring Emma Roberts, and the night club from the season 6 premiere of Mad Men. As you continue walking, your tour guide will point out stomping grounds of characters from Gossip Girl, Broad City, Desperately Seeking Susan starring Madonna and Ghostbusters II along the way.

Nearby is St. Mark’s Church, often used in TV and film for its picturesque nature. This spot is seen as the backdrop in projects like A Beautiful Mind, Two Weeks Notice, and HBO’s The Night Of.

Alphabet City & Tompkins Square Park
After a quick stop at Veniero’s, a pastry shop known for being featured in Law & Order: SVU, Curb Your Enthusiasm, and NBC’s The Village, you’ll head farther east into Alphabet City, a more residential area tucked into Manhattan.

Cut through the park to see where the plot kicks off for Julia Roberts in Eat, Pray, Love and where Sesame Street and Die Hard: With A Vengeance had scenes filmed. Right across the street is the historic Vazac’s Horeshoe Bar, frequented among hardcore Godfather II fans due to its famous ambush scene where “Michael Corleone says hello.” Since then, the bar has also been used as a pivotal setting in shows like Jessica Jones and Russian Doll. Russian Doll used much of the East Village as its setting.

As you wrap up the tour, you’ll get to see the huge deli from the iconic “I’ll have what she’s having” scene in When Harry Met Sally, and then finish the tour at Arlene’s Grocery, which has played hosts to artists from Arcade Fire to Lady Gaga, as well as a gig to Nick’s band in Nick and Nora’s Infinite Playlist. When the tour ends, grab a drink here, or double back a block to enjoy a sandwich at Katz’ Deli– can’t go wrong either way!

Guggenheim Museum

The Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation was founded in 1937, and its first New York–based venue for the display of art, the Museum of Non-Objective Painting, opened in 1939. With its exhibitions of Solomon Guggenheim’s somewhat eccentric art collection, the unusual gallery—designed by William Muschenheim at the behest of Hilla Rebay, the foundation’s curator and the museum’s director—provided many visitors with their first encounter with great works by Vasily Kandinsky, as well as works by his followers, including Rudolf Bauer, Alice Mason, Otto Nebel, and Rolph Scarlett. The need for a permanent building to house Guggenheim’s art collection became evident in the early 1940s, and in 1943 renowned architect Frank Lloyd Wright gained the commission to design a museum in New York City. The Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum opened on October 21, 1959.

Today the Guggenheim Foundation includes the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York, the Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice, and the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao, designed by Frank Gehry. Guggenheim Abu Dhabi, also a Gehry design, is slated to open in the Cultural District of Saadiyat Island. Through collaborative efforts, the foundation has extended its reach to projects and exhibitions globally, most recently with the Robert H. N. Ho Family Foundation Chinese Art Initiative and through the Guggenheim UBS MAP Global Art Initiative, a multiyear collaboration with UBS in support of art, artists, and curatorial talent from South and Southeast Asia, Latin America, and the Middle East and North Africa. The Guggenheim Foundation remains committed to collecting, preserving and interpreting modern and contemporary art while forging international collaborations that explore ideas across cultures through dynamic curatorial and educational initiatives.

9/11 Ground Zero Tour

Pay your respects to those who lost their lives in the World Trade Center attack on September 11, 2001, on this enlightening visit to Ground Zero. This is the site where the famous World Trade Center used to stand and has now been transformed into a shrine of remembrance, a tribute to the many who were lost in the attack, and is now an important, even fundamental part of New York City.

Explore the many architectonic wonders that have been erected on Ground Zero and the 9/11 Memorial. Dedicate a moment to reflect and remember as you cast eyes upon the Reflecting Absence Memorial, the largest man-made waterfall in the world, a large square carved deep into the ground where gallons of water gush endlessly down the edges. As you contemplate the beautiful sight of the rushing water, offer a prayer or some inner words of condolence to the tragedy that lead to the construction of this magnificent site.

Visit too St Paul’s Chapel, a makeshift rescue centre and tribute, as well as the Steel Beam Cross, a new symbol of hope for the city. What’s more, on this tour you will be able to hear the stories of the emergency responders at the Firefighter’s 9/11 Memorial, and even see the Engine and Ladder Co. 10/10, the fire station of Ground Zero. Wrap up the experience by casting a glimpse at tomorrow, with a look at the new Freedom Tour and the new World Trade Center buildings.
