Mont Saint Michel on your own

Cross the causeway to Mont Saint Michel, a small rocky island that rises sharply out of the water in the biggest bay in Europe, and be transported to the Middle Ages.

Visited by more than three million every year, this attraction combines timeless beauty, historical value and religious allure. The mount sits regally crowned with an Abbey of outstanding history and resonance. It will be love at first sight as you travel to this stunning and memorable location.

Mont Saint Michel holds such a distinctive appeal to visitors because of the very visible relationship between the natural world and the built heritage, as the buildings of the town seem to cling precariously to the side of the rock itself.
The Abbey, rightly named the marvel of the Western World, is still one of the most famous pilgrimage centres since the Middle Ages. Interestingly, after the French Revolution it was utilised for a time as a prison for political prisoners until public pressure demanded it be restored and protected as a national treasure. The abbey was declared a national monument in 87 and the island and its bay were internationally recognised for its human-created and natural beauty as a World Heritage site 1979.

Moulin Rouge 1st show with pick up from Hotel

A night to remember is on the cards at the famous Moulin Rouge theatre, with a cabaret show that will make you want to kick your heels up in delight!

Highlights
- Take a seat in the legendary Moulin Rouge
- Let yourself be hypnotised by the dazzling performers
- Enjoy half a bottle of complimentary Champagne per person

You haven´t seen to Paris unless you have been to the Moulin Rouge, the most famous cabaret in the world!

The Moulin Rouge theatre, that inspired a hit musical movie of the same name, has been delighting and shocking guests since it performed the risqué Can-Can dance in 1889, the year of the first centenary of the French Revolution at the same time as the inauguration of the Eiffel Tower.

At this time the cabaret played host to fairs in its gardens and even boasted a giant elephant, proceeding from the Universal Exhibition among its attractions. The Moulin Rouge had become the place to be seen in Paris where all kinds of revellers, from princes to the middle classes, artists, writers and workers flocked to be entertained. The painter Toulouse-Lautrec immortalized the unique atmosphere of time in his posters with his great muse, La Goulue.

Today it continues to astound visitors with the fabulously extravagant Feerie show with 100 performers bedecked in 1,000 costumes of sequins, feathers and rhinestones, as well as five pythons and an aquarium tank of 40 tonnes of water. You're sure to be dazzled when you come to the cabaret at Moulin Rouge. To top it all off enjoy half a bottle of champagne per person.

Normandy D-Day Landing Beaches and Memorials with Lunch

Head out early and make your way to the picturesque lush greenery flanking the Atlantic seaboard on the northern coast of France. As you travel through the charming countryside, it’s hard to imagine that this area once served as the violent stage for the largest amphibious invasion in history. Listen as your guide illuminates the historic series of events that surround you. Arrive at the Utah Beach Museum, housed in an original German bunker on the very beach where the first American troops landed. Learn about the complicated planning behind Operation Overlord, along with touching stories of ordinary men and women who helped shape the face of Europe today.

The museum offers unparalleled views over Utah beach and is home to one of the only six remaining B-26 airplanes left in the world. Gain a better understanding of the events of D-day by experiencing the Norman countryside also. Enjoy the people and traditions of the region. Stop for a brief visit in a traditional Norman cider-making orchard where you'll take a taste of the cider and Calvados, before making your return to the city.

A pleasant day taking in the sights and sounds of one of the more lovely, historical regions of France, your time spent in Normandy will leave you with vibrant memories of an area full off natural beauty and a rich, deep history.

We’ll continue our exploration of Normandy with a typical Norman-style lunch, freshly prepared for us with only seasonal ingredients. We’ll enjoy our meal in a charming, local restaurant with a view overlooking the port of Grandcamp Maisy.

After lunch we will travel to Pointe du Hoc, a German defense situated on the cliff tops and heroically taken by US Rangers. This cliff overlooking the English Channel today remains very much as it was left over half a century ago by the Rangers. Many of the original German fortifications have been left in place and the area is still scarred by bomb craters. We’ll also have the opportunity to pay our respects to the fallen at the American Cemetery at Colleville-sur-Mer. The cemetery is located on a bluff that overlooks Omaha Beach, which was one of the landing beaches of the D-Day invasion. Theodore Roosevelt, Jr., son of President Theodore Roosevelt and a Medal of Honor recipient, is buried here together with the almost 10,000 soldiers who sacrificed their lives. Our stop in the area includes a visit to the Omaha Beach Visitor Centre, where we’ll learn that despite meticulous planning of the Omaha Beach landings, very little went as planned. Your guide will use the time spent driving to provide enriching commentary and answer questions, preparing you for each stop on the tour. This will leave plenty of time for you to explore freely upon arrival and focus on what is important to you.

Whether you are a history buff, served in WWII or are simply interested in the epic events of this historic moment, consider this comprehensive Normandy - US D-Day Beaches Day Trip from Paris including typical lunch and Cider Tasting.

Paris Fun Cooking Class: Food Market and Cooking

Your “Food Market & Cooking Class in Paris” stands out as an authentic and fun experience.
The class starts at a local farmers’ market, the one where the chef shops every day. Together with your guide, you pick the best seasonal produce available, you devise a menu, you meet purveyors – and you select the wine too, of course!

Together we will explore local shops – cheese store, bread maker, vegetable stand, butcher, fishmonger, fruit seller etc...You will rub elbows with local Parisians shopping for their food.

Then the chef takes you to your “classroom”: his actual home. This is where you will measure yourself against french cuisine. Once acknowledged the chef about your cooking skills and tastes, he will set out a program accordingly. He will introduce you to the cooking utensils and to the protocol in his kitchen.
Now start cooking! There is a meal to prepare!

This cooking class is very hands-on – you are not here to watch, everyone cooks the whole meal.

The menu focuses on spectacular French dishes that you will be able to reproduce to impress your friends.
You will work on some very high-end food products, learn some techniques, and discuss french food anecdotes – whilst sipping a cool drink.

After all this work, it’s time to eat of course!
Enjoy a very refined meal, with matching drinks, in a Parisian home – the meal you just designed and cooked with your own hands.

The host is a Paris food buff and an advanced recreational chef. He shares personal memories, family tips and cooking traditions passed on from generation to generation. Later, after your market & cooking in Paris, your host will send you the recipe of whatever you ended up choosing to cook.

Chateaux Country - The best of Loire Valley

Go on a reconnaissance of the Loire Valley and engage with three riverside Chateaux from the romantic Renaissance period.

Highlights
- Explore one of the most recognisable chateaux in the world: Chambord
- Learn about the disturbing history of Château de Chenonceau
- Discover the Loire wine heritage with a wine tasting session

With guided tours of Château de Chenonceau and Château de Chambord, you have a smorgasbord of French style and country chic to engorge on. Instead of a tale of two cities, this tour will take you on a tale of two Chateaux! You will be enlightened, entertained and impressed by your day in Chateaux Country.

Built on the site of an old mill, Château de Chenonceau stands on the side of the River Cher. The roots of the Castle lie in the 11th century, and after that tells a chequered story of malicious fire, destruction, rebuilding, repossession, disputed ownership, periods of habitation and abandonment, use as a hospital during World War I, and as an escape route during the Second World War. Now privately owned and faithfully restored to its former glory, Chenonceau displays elements of late Gothic and early Renaissance architecture.

Château de Chambord is arguably one of the most recognisable chateaux in the world due to its architectural blend of medieval and Renaissance design, giving it a quintessentially French appearance. Chambord is the most typical representation of a castle with a keep, corner towers, and a moat. It is the largest Chateau in the Loire region and boasts 440 rooms, 282 fireplaces, and 84 staircases.

What's more, to complete your visit, you can discover the Loire wine heritage with a wine tasting of 3 famous Loire wines, accompanied with toasted bread and local food products.

Others
You will be provided food and drinks during winter (01/11-31/3). During summer (01/04-31/10) food and drinks are not provided but the guide can tell you the best places in town where you can go to eat.

Loire Valley Castles and Wine Tasting

It’s a feast for the senses: its verdant landscape is dotted with magnificent châteaux in an area that was once the crucial boundary between north and southern France. Take a daytrip from Paris and smell the blossoming gardens in the Garden of France and admire the impressive Château de Chambord and Chenonceau.

Our first stop is Chambord Castle, the most majestic and visited in the Loire Valley. It is a living embodiment of Renaissance architecture, and you’ll discover how this was the most ambitious and expensive architectural project undertaken by a French monarch. Chambord Castle is every bit the castle you would expect and is complete with astounding staircases, one reportedly designed by Leonardo da Vinci, as well as land filled with red deer and wild boar.

Hop back on the bus ready for our exclusive visit to Nitray private castle and vineyards. Here we enjoy a delicious home cooked lunch using local ingredients, with a chance to sample some of the region’s best wines.
After coffee and dessert, the owner will take you to the pigeon house and you will have free time to explore the grounds at your own pace before we make our way to our final stop to Château de Chenonceau, the so-called ‘Château de Dames’.

The castle holds testament to a history of leading female owners who all added to the construction and design of this attractive castle. See the rich royal interiors, the Royal Kitchen and room of five queens; though you’ll find its arches over the Loire River and the manicured gardens equally impressive.
